Sweat Lodge Guidelines

Respectful Space: The Sweat Lodge is a ceremonial site, not a sauna. Please do not disturb the land, altars, or fire, as our staff handles these responsibilities. Only approved Water Pourers run the Lodge, ensuring safety and ceremony integrity.

  1. Scheduled Ceremonies: Sweat Lodge ceremonies are arranged in advance with Four Quarters. Fires in the Sweat Lodge area are ignited and managed by our Sweat Lodge Staff members. For the schedule, you can visit our Facebook page: [link].

  2. Welcome Fire: Upon entering the sacred site, you’ll find the “Welcome Fire.” It’s a space for relaxation, connection, and centering. Before reaching the Lodge fire with heated stones, there’s a small altar with sacred herbs. You can offer tobacco to this sacred fire, sending your prayers and intentions to the Great Spirit. Please refrain from throwing anything else into the fire, as Fire Keepers tend to it exclusively.

  3. Open to All Ages: The Sweat Lodge Ceremony welcomes participants of all ages. Bring a towel, a drinking vessel, and wear comfortable attire. Hydration is crucial, so drink plenty of water, and consider eating lightly or fasting before the ceremony. However, water fasting is not recommended.

  4. Ceremonial Rounds: A typical Lodge includes four rounds with brief breaks in between, aligning with sacred traditions. While it’s not mandatory, you can choose to participate in all four rounds. Ceremonies usually last around 1.5 to 2 hours, but the duration may vary. You can exit between rounds if needed, guided by the ceremony leader’s instructions.

  5. Stay Sober: Please avoid participating in the ceremony while intoxicated or under the influence of substances. Alcohol, in particular, is disrespectful to many sweat traditions and poses risks to all involved. Do not bring intoxicants to the Sweat Lodge area. If you have any concerns about health issues, inform the ceremony leader before entering the Lodge.

Your understanding and adherence to these guidelines help create a safe and respectful environment for all participants.

Sweat Lodge Ceremony Disclaimer:

Participants in our Sweat Lodge Ceremony are kindly advised to consult with their healthcare provider before taking part. It’s important to recognise that the sweat lodge experience is primarily a spiritual journey, and while it offers numerous potential benefits, it may not be suitable for everyone. By choosing to participate, individuals acknowledge and accept that they do so with informed consent, taking full responsibility for their health and well-being during the ceremony. We also encourage all participants to inform the ceremony leader of any specific health concerns or conditions. While we prioritise safety, each individual’s well-being is ultimately their own responsibility.
